Kathy Futterman, Ed.D.
Having worked in the field of mild to moderate special education for the last 30 years, Dr. Futterman specializes working with students with language-based learning issues, particularly dyslexia. She has taught in a variety of public and private settings and has been an Adjunct Faculty member at Cal State East Bay since 2009.
Dr. Futterman has had a private practice as an Educational Therapist working directly with students and their families since 2001 in the Bay Area. Her private practice includes individualized remediation, conducting academic Individualized Education Evaluations (IEEs), and consulting with parents and families, educators, school districts and special education attorneys.

Since 2016, Dr. Futterman has been the district-wide Educational Specialist & Academic Assessor with Mt. Diablo Unified School District. She was selected by California’s State Superintendent as a workgroup member for the California Dyslexia Guidelines to help create and write the state's current guidelines. Since that time, she has been instrumental in teacher training and professional learning around the subject of understanding dyslexia.
